POLISH LIBRARY

When was your organization created?

The Library was founded in 1984. From a small collection of about 800 books, the Library grew over the years and currently consists of over 8,400 books, films, and periodicals. They are cataloged in the library system ResourceMate and Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) is available on the Web for searching.  In 2023, 325 patrons have visited the Library.  Over 4,000 library items were circulated. 8 volunteers performed library duties.

What is the main goal of your organization?

The Library promotes Polish language and literature among members of the Polish community. A selection of books about Polish history and literature is also available in English. Access to the Library collection is provided free of charge.

Over the course of your history, what is your organization most proud of?

The biggest success has been maintaining integrity of the Library collection and operations for 40 years. Another accomplishment was computerizing the Library collection in 2020 which required seven months of data entry into  the library database. The Library has also started a Book Club where patrons can discuss selected books from Polish and world literature.

How can someone find out more about your organization?
