When was your organization created? |
“Polanie” Polish Song & Dance Association was founded in Calgary in 1977 under the initiative of Krystyna Cichowicz (Siostra/Sister Alojza).
What is the main goal of your organization? |
The aim of the group is to present the richness of Polish folklore in a stylized artistic adaptation. Since its outset, the ensemble has developed and established a unique style which has become a recognized landmark in Canada and internationally.
Over the course of your history, what is your organization most proud of? |
Polanie’s highest profile performance would have been the opening ceremonies at the 1988 Winter Olympics. The thing Polanie Song & Dance Association is most proud of is contributing and growing the vision Siostra Alojza started almost 50 years ago. There are currently over 100 people participating in Polish dance in Calgary!
