Anna Bilek
Anna is best known for her technique, experience, and deep understanding of glass
as a medium.
One of Anna’s initial attractions to glass was the scientific and problem-solving elements of the creation process. Hours of work can fall apart in seconds and it requires investigation, problem solving, and the patience to begin again. Creating with logic, technique and purpose, Anna deep appreciation for the medium challenges her perfectionist nature constantly.
Anna has been running her studio and gallery Passion for Glass since 2012. She teaches
glass techniques to beginners and other artists, and somehow finds time to create her own collections.
About Me
Born and raised at the foot of Sowie Mountain in Poland, Anna’s enthusiasm for skiing and adventure led her to Calgary in her mid-twenties. During a family ski vacation, Anna was first introduced to glass as an art medium when her husband encouraged her to attend a lamp-working workshop – and her life’s passion unexpectedly appeared before her. Her previous career as a system integrator would gradually come to an end as Anna’s creative expression with glass grew into a full-time occupation.
